NEET 2021 Exam – Biology Section – Mapping to NCERT Textbooks

Dear Aspirants of NEET 2022, NEET 2023

NEET 2021 Examination was completed finally on 12th September 2021. The official question papers and answer keys are yet to be released. However, most of the coaching institutes have already released the question papers and their version of the answer keys.

Last year I have written the following para in my blog post.

“In the year 2020; one need not be surprised to see the NEET 2020 topper touching the coveted 720 mark out of 720 marks for the first time in NEET’s history!! Also, at 600 marks one may see the All India Rank (AIR) of around 10,000! This will alter the cutoffs at the premier medical colleges in the country drastically.”

Well, Well, there were two students last year who actually got the full marks 720/720!! Also, at 600 marks the rank happened to be 20,000!! At 625 marks the rank was 10,000. So in 25 marks range there were 10,000 students.

Looking at the paper this year, one should not get surprised if the same pattern is repeated again like in 2020.

Kudos to all these students, who are able to manage this kind of performance inspite of the chaotic pandemic times all of us are living in.

When students start preparing for the NEET Examination after their Class X , Year after Year, there is a major perception that gets created by the coaching institutes that NCERT books would not be important! The students should read only their coaching material is the Mantra given to them.

Year after Year (Fifth consecutive year now), I come out with my blog posts to showcase how important the NCERT textbooks are, by mapping the NEET Question papers Biology Section questions to NCERT textbooks. For all those who are preparing for the NEET 2022, 2023 examination and beyond, I have come back with the Biology question paper mapping to the NCERT textbooks.

Before going to the 2021 question paper mapping, let me point out to all of you about the mapping exercise that I had done for the 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017 Biology Section of the Question Paper.

NEET 2020 Exam – Biology Section – Mapping to NCERT Textbooks

In 2020, I have referred to the question paper code R3 for doing the mapping exercise. {Credit and Thanks to Allen Career Institute for this question paper} The Biology Section of the Question Paper can be accessed from the following link —->  NEET – 2020 : Question Paper – Code H3  ******************************************************

NEET 2019 Exam – Biology Section – Mapping to NCERT Textbooks

In 2019, I have referred to the question paper code R3 for doing the mapping exercise. {Credit and Thanks to Resonance Institute for this question paper} The Biology Section of the Question Paper can be accessed from the following link —-> NEET 2019 – Question Paper – Code R3  ******************************************************

NEET 2018 Exam – Biology Section – Mapping to NCERT Textbooks

In 2018, I had taken the Code – PP NEET question paper for the mapping exercise. {Credit and Thanks to Allen Career Institute for this question paper} The Biology Section of the Question Paper can be accessed from the following link —> NEET 2018 – Code PP – Biology Section

NEET 2017 Question Paper – Biology Section – Mapping to NCERT Textbooks

In 2017, I had taken the NEET question paper and mapped the Biology section questions to the NCERT text books. For that mapping exercise I had taken the Code – Y question paper of NEET 2017 for the mapping exercise. {Credit and Thanks to SriChaitanya Institute for this question paper} The same can be accessed for your reference from the following link —> NEET – 2017 : Code Y Question Paper

Now coming back to the 2021 Question paper mapping.  I have taken the Code M2 question paper to do the mapping exercise. {Credit and Thanks to Allen Career Institute for this question paper} The Botany and Zoology Sections of the Question Paper can be accessed from the following links:

All the 90 questions of the Biology section are traced and found in the NCERT textbooks. All of them, are on the easier side this year as compared to the previous years. I am a little bit puzzled/surprised at the question paper this year. While there are some 700 odd pages in the Class XI and XII Biology text books, multiple times in this years paper there are atleast 2 questions coming from the same page. There could have been a much better spread of questions across the chapters and the content in the textbooks.

A decent preparation using only NCERT textbooks, should fetch everyone a 300+ score in Biology this year.

The mapping of the questions to the NCERT textbooks is shown in the tables below. (Not being a Biology student, E & OE)

NEET 2021 - Code M2 - Biology 1 of 2

NEET 2021 - Code M2 - Biology 2 of 2

So Dear Aspirants please ensure that the NCERT Biology text books of classes XI and XII and Exemplar books are your true companion in your pursuit of NEET Examination Success! Minimum 75 questions out of 90 questions target (300 Marks in Biology Section!) can be achieved by just these books. After reading NCERT textbooks, you should definitely go for your coaching institute material and the mock tests that they offer.

Best Wishes to all of you
